Mimosa NearPoint™ is a next generation content archiving solution that provides email and file system archiving, eDiscovery, recovery, disaster recovery and storage management in a single solution. Because Mimosa NearPoint uses Continuous Application Shadowing and One Pass Protection to capture and archive Exchange data, the archive can also be used to recover Exchange at various levels including individual mailbox, storage group, AD group, and full server.
With first-generation archiving solutions, recover was a time-consuming nightmare for IT. Such recovery requires the restoration of the last full backup tape (usually done over the weekend) plus restoration and reconciliation with any incremental backups done (usually each weeknight). In many cases, if an Exchange server fails, it could take anywhere from 8-24 hours to restore the data – that's simply too long for a mission-critical application like email.
Because NearPoint offers integrated recovery, customers are able to improve Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) by reducing the total time to restore and recover a failed Exchange database to less than 1 hour. At the same time, it is possible to minimize Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) – instead of being able to recover only to the point of the last backup, NearPoint's continuous data protection offers more frequent protection cycles.
With NearPoint's integrated recovery, customers reduce calls to the IT help desk in the event that users lose email because self-service recovery is enabled. Business users are empowered by the NearPoint Self-Service Access™, enabling fingertip access to individual messages across time, resulting in improved productivity and higher quality of decision making. The Mimosa self-service recovery capability, enabled by the administrator, is intuitive and offers easy access to accidentally deleted and old messages. Mimosa NearPoint is seamlessly integrated into Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Web Access (OWA). End-users click on the “Mimosa Archive” folder from within Outlook or OWA and have instant access to all of their mailbox data. Message headers, bodies and attachments are full-text indexed to enable powerful and fast searches across vast amounts of email data.
In the event that a whole site goes down due to a disaster, NearPoint offers the Disaster Recovery Option. With this, NearPoint provides complete disaster recovery of Exchange to the primary Exchange Server using the base NearPoint product or to a stand-by Exchange Server.
