NEARPOINT CUSTODIAN COLLECTOR OPTION

Rapid Search, Retrieval, and Preservation of Custodian
File Content for eDiscovery

The Mimosa™ NearPoint™ Custodian Collector Option provides a single solution to rapidly search, retrieve, preserve, and assess critical content owned by custodians with potentially responsive electronically stored information (ESI). The Custodian Collector scans file shares, laptops, and desktops, and places a forensically defensible copy of all selected documents and files into the NearPoint archive. Built on the award-winning Mimosa NearPoint Live Content Archiving platform, the NearPoint Custodian Collector provides indispensable benefits for companies that need to collect and preserve content as part of an early “meet and confer” meeting, track ongoing case assessments, or satisfy an obligation to preserve ESI.

Amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) — which became effective on December 1, 2006 — mandate, among other requirements, initial disclosure of all potentially responsive ESI at the onset of each case, as well as a meet-and-confer conference regarding electronic discovery in every suit. The NearPoint Custodian Collector Option is a powerful and flexible tool that allows companies to locate potentially responsive ESI based on a variety of file attributes, including document owner, creation date, modification date, or file type (Excel, Word, PDF), and then create a forensically defensible copy of the selected items.

The NearPoint Custodian Collector Option filters targeted sets of files to streamline the collection of content and reduce the number of redundant files for rapid search and retrieval. Files are then forensically copied into the Mimosa NearPoint archive and preserved in a tamper-resistant format. The NearPoint eDiscovery application is then used to search the NearPoint archive within file content or file properties, such as when the file was created, modified, or last accessed, and which users have access privileges to the file.

The NearPoint family of eDiscovery solutions provides companies with a powerful vehicle for preserving, securing, reviewing, and rapidly producing content when facing a litigation action.

  • Aids in early case assessment strategies.
  • Reduces the time needed to identify responsive content by using packaged filter sets to quickly remove system files and identify duplicates before migrating them into the NearPoint archive for preservation.
