Mimosa NearPoint Ensures Retention and Recovery of Critical Email Data and Improves Exchange Storage Efficiency for Rapidly Growing National Restaurant Chain
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Nov. 13, 2007 - Mimosa Systems™, a leader in live content archiving solutions, today announced that Gordon Biersch Brewing Company, a brewery restaurant chain with 17 locations in 13 states and the District of Columbia, has deployed the next-generation Mimosa TM NearPoint TM for Microsoft ® Exchange Server to ensure the company can retain, protect and recover vital email data.
Gordon Biersch, which opened its first restaurant in Palo Alto, California, in 1988, is now growing at the rate of five new restaurants a year. Each grand opening means increasing demands on the corporate network, including the email system. To address the IT requirements of its growing business, Gordon Biersch needed a robust archiving solution that could seamlessly scale to meet its rapid growth. The company selected Mimosa's comprehensive archiving solution to ensure retention and recovery for critical email data while improving Exchange storage optimization.
The company's corporate policy is to store all email for its employees for seven years; however, Exchange does not provide a solution for compliance. In addition, the company set a quota of 250MB for mailboxes for most users. "In our first year with Exchange, the email and attachments that our users were sending and receiving were quickly reaching quota limits," said Alex Birnbaum, senior director of IT at Gordon Biersch. "We wanted to move in front of the growth curve and sought out an email archival solution that would help us keep our mailboxes under control without throwing more hardware at the problem, or sacrificing user productivity. The Mimosa system, with its ease of use, flexibility and seamless integration with Exchange, has proven to be a perfect fit for our business."
The Mimosa NearPoint™ archiving solution has rapidly delivered value to Gordon Biersch in several ways, including:
"Rapidly growing organizations like Gordon Biersch face tough challenges balancing business demands for discovery, recovery, and continuity with users' needs for information immediacy, " said T.M. Ravi, CEO of Mimosa Systems. "Mimosa has and will continue to set the standard by which all other email archiving solutions are measured."
