Mimosa NearPoint Continues to be the Solution of Choice for State and Local Government Agencies to Ensure Retention & Recovery of Vital Email Data and Improve Exchange Storage Performance
Santa Clara, Calif .– October 29, 2008 – Mimosa Systems, a leader in Live Content Archiving solutions, today announced that the State of Delaware, the nation's first official state to ratify the U.S. Constitution, has implemented next-generation Mimosa NearPoint™ unified content archiving solution to retain, preserve, protect and recover vital email data for its increasing number of Exchange mailboxes.
To serve its growing population, the State of Delaware offers numerous state agencies, from its legislative and judicial branches to its Department of Health and Social Services, all which rely heavily upon email communication to conduct daily business. Currently the Department of Technology and Information for the State of Delaware is managing 18,500 mailboxes in support of all offices and government agencies for the state. However, its IT organization was burdened with an increasing number of discovery requests that continued to consume time and resources which were already stretched thin from typical end user support requests.
"As part of our self mandated state litigation retention policy, we are currently saving all emails for a one year period," said Douglas Lilly, lead telecom technologist, Department of Technology and Information for the State of Delaware. "While we had a backup solution already, it wasn't robust enough for our eDiscovery search and recovery needs. We needed a more proactive approach that could capture everything including calendar items, messages, tasks and item histories. After looking at all the large players, we selected Mimosa because it was the only unified solution for eDiscovery, storage optimization and disaster recovery."
In addition to NearPoint's comprehensive features, the State of Delaware was also impressed by the product's ability to eliminate journaling with zero overhead to Exchange. “The other vendors we looked at took an antiquated approach using journaling,” added Lilly. “But Mimosa eliminates journaling with zero impact on Exchange. It's truly a next-generation archiving platform that will scale based on our business requirements.”
Features of Mimosa NearPoint that are particularly important to the State of Delaware include:
“Mimosa is pleased by the continued traction it is seeing in the state and local government sector,” said T.M. Ravi, CEO, Mimosa Systems. “The momentum we see in this market category is another indicator of the success of our solution in areas where advanced content archiving features are critical. Mimosa NearPoint continues to demonstrate that it is the most advanced, unified solution available for the management and protection of critical email data.”
