Mimosa Systems Brings Seminar on Best Practices for Email Retention and eDiscovery to Cleveland

Email Retention and Compliance Experts Will Discuss Proactive Strategies for Minimizing Risk

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Oct. 9, 2007 - Mimosa Systems™, a leader in live content archiving solutions, today announced it will host a half-day educational seminar, Best Practices for Email Retention and eDiscovery, in the Cleveland area on Tuesday, Oct. 16. The seminar will provide practical advice on the creation and deployment of email retention policies for corporate governance and eDiscovery support. The event will be held from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Microsoft Park Center III office, 6050 Oak Tree Blvd. South, Independence.

Best Practices for Email Retention and eDiscovery will feature Bill Savarino, a partner in the Washington, DC-based law firm of Cohen Mohr LLP who specializes in legal issues involving email retention, government contracts, and security. Savarino will draw from his 25 years of experience to discuss best practices for email retention and present practical tips and advice organizations can immediately put into action to improve their eDiscovery preparedness.

"Both the volume and the cost of eDiscovery are rising every quarter," explained Bill Tolson, director of compliance and legal solutions marketing at Mimosa Systems and a featured speaker at the event. " If companies don't diligently and responsibly manage their email systems, they put themselves, their employees, and their shareholders at significant legal risk."

According to the April 20, 2007 Gartner report, Cost of E-Discovery Threatens to Skew Justice System , "The use of technology, especially email and the Internet, has changed the legal discovery environment. Most organizations do not have the systems and policies in place to deal effectively with ediscovery." In addition to developing a document retention policy that supports the company's needs and has the ability to destroy information when it's no longer needed, Gartner recommends that organizations "use technology to automate whenever and wherever possible regarding document retention and management."
