Senior Software Engineer – Storage

Role:
This individual will serve as a member of a small, yet high-powered technical team that is responsible for data capture, data movement and storage management of the Mimosa enterprise class software solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Drive the design, development, integration, delivery and evolution of the data capture, storage and data management subsystem of the Mimosa products
• Work closely with management, customer support, other engineering teams and SQA to continuously evolve and improve the enterprise class storage management, data gathering and data movement of the Mimosa products
• Ensure robust, safe, securely accessible, highly available and highly scalable data management, data capture and storage management meets or exceeds customer and end-user expectations
• Participate in design and implementation of software product modules related to data handling. Work as a member of onsite and offshore Mimosa teams, ensure smooth functioning across the teams.

Professional Background – Required:

• Deep experience with designing, developing, and leading the development of storage management (covering variety of data capture and management solutions, storage performance and management) and database-driven applications
• Strong understanding of storage concepts and advanced data management techniques, with practical experience designing and developing highly scalable and high performance storage applications
• Experience with developing storage applications involving linear as well as random access patterns using different operating systems and file systems involving high performance storage as well as security of data.
• Significant experience delivering enterprise class software solutions in one or more of the following areas – enterprise data handling and management, security, Familiarity with Microsoft solutions for data management such as NTFS and VSS.
• Experience with data security, encryption and access control mechanisms
• Strong understanding of robustness, usability, scalability and performance
• It is imperative to have deep and current skills in Microsoft C++ and C#.
• Advanced knowledge of multi-threading and synchronization and the ability to implement and debug lock-free MP-safe code.
• Very deep experience with distributed computing and the ability to design, implement and debug implementations that use remoting, web services, and MPI.
• Understanding of the Windows I/O stack and the ability to implement high-performance asynchronous I/O that can maximize throughput and hardware utilization.
• Significant experience in designing and developing multi-tier enterprise class Windows and .NET applications with special emphasis on the middle tier and backend development
• Deep knowledge of high-performance C++/C# database programming using mechanisms such as ADO and ADO.NET and the ability to isolate and optimize performance bottlenecks.
• Some startup background or from a company with aggressive “small company” culture
• 6+ years of professional software development experience

Professional Background – Desirable:

• Experience with high availability solutions
• Experience with third part storage solutions such as filers
• Experience with implementing solutions for regulatory compliance
• Experience with highly scalable and high performance databases, with schema design and SQL programming experience
• Experience with manageability, monitoring and diagnostics
• Experience with developing applications with at least one of the leading commercially available search engines (such as FAST, Google, Autonomy, Verity, DTSearch, etc.) is desirable
