Sr Database Engineer

Role:
This individual is the hands-on principal developer of the Mimosa subsystem team that is architecting, designing, developing and performance tuning the Database subsystem of the Mimosa product.

Required Experience:
10+ years developing, and leading the development of database-driven applications with low-latency accesses, and dense data hosting requirements. Strong background in designing and developing enterprise class applications with strong focus on database performance, scalability and high availability. Experience implementing clustering and replication. Technical leadership experience required.

Required Skills:
Must have very strong problem solving skills, high creativity, and the ability to discuss advanced technical concepts at an abstract technical level. Must have the ability to develop high-quality software with C++, C# and SQL stored procedures. Must have excellent database schema design skills. Strong experience with SQL Server and Oracle. Experience with database performance analysis and tuning for high throughput and high capacity databases. Database physical tuning, logical table/index tuning, query tuning and optimizing the application code.

Desirable Experience:
Implementing search and mining applications on semi-structured data using advanced semantic indexing techniques, OLAP and natural language processing techniques.

Desirable Skills:
Developing software using Microsoft Visual Studio for Microsoft SQL Server and deep knowledge of the Microsoft Component Object Model. Experience with XML based data import/export from Microsoft SQL Server, and experience with ADO and .NET highly desirable. Significant experience using and extending CVS-based shared code repositories.
