Electronic Records Disposition – Automated Deletion

Over the years, including just recently, I have been asked by potential customers how the Mimosa NearPoint content archive controls the disposition of ESI after it has reached the end of its retention period. Specifically they want to know how the system allows a records manager to approve the deletion of the records. I am constantly amazed at this question.

Is Built-In SharePoint Discovery Enough?

The increased adoption of SharePoint into the corporate infrastructure has highlighted a new ESI eDiscovery target in the litigation process. The SharePoint system effectively captures and manages records and revisions. The new SharePoint release touts eDiscovery capabilities that allow the user to search for and find specific SharePoint records in response to a discovery request.

The Disconnect Continues

I attended the ACC (Association of Corporate Counsel) trade show in Seattle this week. What’s clear to me more than ever is that we are still in an extremely immature market phase for eDiscovery.

First of all, there is a clear disconnect between legal folks, records and information management folks, and IT. Why else would the biggest records management show of the year (ARMA) in Las Vegas take place the same week as the ACC show?
