eDiscovery Requests Set to Rise in 2010
Research from Enterprise Strategy Group finds the space will continue to grow as more companies bring litigation support operations in-house.
In a recent article published on the destinationCRM.com website by Christopher Musico, it was pointed out that eDiscovery requests in 2010 are expected to rise from the already high rates of 2009.
Enterprise Strategy Group found that 87 percent of those surveyed said they plan to budget for technology specifically supporting the eDiscovery process next year. This follows the trend of the last year or two of bringing more of the eDiscovery process in-house to save money.
The ESG study also found 69 percent of respondents plan to bring the processing and analysis phases in-house, and 66 percent planned to bring the identification and collection phase in-house.
What does this show? It shows that corporate legal departments, because of expected increased civil litigation, are planning to become more proficient in the eDiscovery process and acquire more technology to help them bring more of the costly eDiscovery responsibilities in house to save time and money.
