Retention policies and eDiscovery Have Real World Impact
We’ve all heard the stories about organizations that have saved a ton of money with better eDiscovery processes and technologies in-house. We’ve also heard stories about organizations losing a ton of money due to not having tools like email archiving in place to make eDiscovery predictable and effecient.
But, today, I heard a new story – a consumer using bad retention management against an organization for real gain. This woman was about to be foreclosed and made a very simple requet to her bank – hand over the original loan documents to prove ownership of the note. Long story short…the bank can’t do it. The foreclosure cannot move forward. Bad for the bank – good move by the consumer. Read the story here.
Just thought a different perspective on all the eDiscovery noise might give folks a chuckle. It goes to show that the simple act of deploying archives with retention management can potentially keep an organization out of the news and keep the money rolling in.
